Regenerative Spine Care · Marin County

Heal your spine
without surgery.

Advanced orthobiologic treatments — including PRP, bone marrow concentrate, and growth factor therapies — designed for Marin County patients seeking lasting, natural spine pain relief.

The Science

What are Orthobiologics?

Orthobiologics use your body's own healing proteins, platelets, and cells to repair injured tissue — without the risks of surgery or long-term medication dependency.

How PRP Therapy Works

Blood Draw

A small sample of your blood is collected — typically 30–60ml — right here in the office.

Centrifugation

Your blood is spun in a centrifuge to concentrate platelets and growth factors to 5–7× their normal levels.

Image-Guided Injection

Using ultrasound or fluoroscopy guidance, the concentrated PRP is injected precisely into the affected spinal structure.

Natural Healing

Growth factors stimulate tissue regeneration over 4–12 weeks, reducing inflammation and restoring function.

Conditions Treated

  • Lumbar & cervical disc degeneration

  • Facet joint arthritis & pain

  • Sacroiliac joint dysfunction

  • Sciatica and radiculopathy

  • Failed back surgery syndrome

  • Spinal ligament laxity

  • Post-surgical rehabilitation support

Why spine patients choose PRP:

Unlike steroid injections — which suppress inflammation temporarily — PRP promotes actual tissue healing. Studies show benefits lasting 12–24 months for many spine conditions.

Our Services

  • The most established orthobiologic. High-concentration platelets delivered directly to disc, facet, or ligament tissue for targeted healing.

  • Harvested from your iliac crest, BMAC contains mesenchymal stem cells and growth factors for more advanced degenerative conditions.

  • Customized multi-injection protocols combining PRP with prolotherapy or BMAC, tailored to your MRI findings and functional goals.

Our Marin County clinic is designed for the active lifestyle patients of the North Bay — from Mt. Tam hikers to desk workers dealing with chronic neck pain.

Why Marin County patients choose us

Marin residents are among the most active in California — and among the most prone to overuse injuries, disc issues, and spine pain from decades of hiking, cycling, and demanding professional lives.

Dr. Katsuura built this practice specifically for patients who want to stay active, avoid surgery, and get back to the trails, the water, and the life they love — without relying on long-term opioids or injections that don't heal the underlying problem.

Dr. Katdsuura has advanced training in image-guided orthobiologic procedures and have treated hundreds of Marin County spine patients with lasting results.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Currently, PRP and most orthobiologic treatments are not covered by Medicare or most commercial insurance plans for spine indications. However, we work with patients on transparent pricing and can provide superbills for FSA/HSA reimbursement. Costs vary depending on the biologic used and the location they are injected.

  • Most spine patients start with a series of 2–3 injections spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Some conditions respond to a single treatment, while complex or chronic cases may benefit from a longer protocol. We reassess after each injection based on your clinical response and imaging.

  • Most patients return to light activity within 24–48 hours. You may experience temporary soreness or a "flare" at the injection site for 3–5 days — this is a normal part of the healing response. Strenuous activity is typically restricted for 1–2 weeks. Full therapeutic benefit is usually seen at 6–12 weeks.

  • Ideal candidates have mild-to-moderate disc or joint degeneration, have not responded fully to physical therapy or steroid injections, and wish to avoid or delay surgery. Patients with severe structural instability, active infection, or blood disorders may not be candidates. A thorough consultation including review of your MRI is required.

  • Cortisone suppresses inflammation temporarily — often for weeks to months — but does not repair damaged tissue. In fact, repeated cortisone injections may weaken disc and cartilage tissue over time. PRP, by contrast, recruits your body's own healing factors to promote actual tissue repair, with benefits that can last years.
